Panama Plus Shift Pattern | 24/7 Shift Coverage

This shift pattern uses 5 teams, two 12-hr shifts, and one 8-hr weekday shift to provide 24/7 coverage. The weekday shift is usually provided for training purpose or other administrative tasks. Overall, each team works 2 weeks on an 8-hr weekday schedule for every 8 weeks of shiftwork. The day and night shifts are both 12-hrs long.

For every 40 weeks, each team works the following shift sequences:

  • Repeat the pattern [2 day shifts, 2 days off, 3 day shifts, 2 days off, 2 day shifts, 3 days off ] 4 times (8 weeks)
  • Work the 8-hr weekday shift for 2 weeks
  • Repeat the pattern [2 night shifts, 2 days off, 3 night shifts, 2 days off, 2 night shifts, 3 days off] 4 times (8 weeks)
  • Work the 8-hr weekday shift for 2 weeks
  • Repeat the pattern [2 days off, 2 day shifts, 3 days off, 2 day shifts, 2 days off, 3 day shifts] 4 times (8 weeks)
  • Work the 8-hr weekday shift for 2 weeks
  • Repeat the pattern [2 days off, 2 night shifts, 3 days off, 2 night shifts, 2 days off, 3 night shifts] 4 times (8 weeks)
